Dr. med. Ekkehard Schmidt

Ekkehard Schmidt, MD, is a cardiologist with heart and soul. After starting his studies in human medicine in Berlin, he continued his studies in Kiel at the Christian Albrechts University from 1983. In 1986 he completed his studies with the 3rd state examination and was an assistant physician in the Department of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at Kiel University Hospital until 1989. From 1989-1995, Dr. Schmidt trained as a specialist in cardiology and internal medicine at Kiel University Hospital under Prof. Simon.

As a co-founder of Cardiologicum Hamburg since 1995, he was particularly responsible for the development of the internal company structure, among other things, as head of personnel. In 2018, he and his physician colleagues founded dpv analytics GmbH as a “spin off” of Cardiologicum Hamburg and developed ritmo, which won the German Medical Award in 2021.

Dr. med. Schmidt has outstanding, long-standing experience with regard to the detection of high-risk patients. This data-based experience, gained from thousands of examinations, is at the heart of the dpv software.
